nnovation & Creative Expression

Brittney McDonald is founder of BLANK, an early-stage startup bridging the gap between climate innovation and creative expression. She founded the company a little over two years ago with the sole intention to bring innovative sustainable solutions to the forefront through creative outlets (however that may take shape) to educate and empower consumers to make more sustainably responsible choices, but also to create tangible impact at a systemic level.

BLANK operates under a singular hypothesis: the belief that if we provide carbon literacy to people, they will make more eco-conscious decisions. They believe consumers learn best through culture, and that our society’s cultural pillars can be re-imagined to be resilient towards climate change, regenerate our planet’s natural resources, and create cultural tentpole moments that are carbon neutral.

Sustainability is not a business problem, but a human one.

Therefore humans collectively need to be more aware of the solutions that exist and don't disrupt their lifestyles. Brittney feels this is achieved through influential cultural categories which are: Art, Food & Fashion. BLANK specializes in showcasing and working closely with brands within those areas to highlight their sustainable angle and elevate the over impact.

Prior to founding BLANK, Brittney spent a decade at various global creative advertising agencies before transitioning into the startup world, helping to build companies from the ground up. It’s through her work with startups, specifically at Venice-based startup FNDR, she began focusing her attention on initiatives and projects that create significant impact at a systemic level, either through innovation or changing our mindset and behavior.

“Our footprint is equally as important as understanding the solutions to put us on a path to sustainability. So for every exhibit and collaboration, we track our carbon footprint.”
